Schools Program
Dignity’s School Involvement Program is a great way for students (and teachers) to gain greater awareness of the issues of homelessness, while making a tangible contribution. The program involves interactive school presentations, fundraising and collections as well as volunteering opportunities.
Dispelling myths & stigmas
When people think about homelessness, often an image of a man sleeping rough will come to mind. In reality, people rough sleeping are a small percentage of the homelessness population. Homelessness can happen to anyone. Our education program in schools aims to dispel the myths and stigmas that surround people experiencing homelessness, while providing students the opportunity to make a valuable contribution.
The program involves interactive school presentations, fundraising and collections as well as volunteering opportunities. These include packing essential amenity packs, on-site working bees and preparing home-cooked meals for guests at Dignity’s homes.
